The Association of Northern Scaffold Contractors was formed in 2003 by a group of dedicated owners of scaffold companies based in the North West of England.

The Association received charitable status in 2004, this allows the Association to use all members subscriptions for the training and education of the membership.

All member companies are expected to send a senior representative to the Association’s bi-monthly meetings where they receive presentations from professional organisations such as the HSE who deliver presentations on current updates in Regulations and other information. There are also presentations from Hill Dickinson Solicitors/The Road Haulage Association and other professional bodies who keep the Association members up to date with all current legislation and industry guidance.

All members are full members of the Road Haulage Association.

The Association also allocates funds for charitable causes. I largest donation so far has been £5,000.00 to one lady who needed computer software as she had been diagnosed with locked in syndrome. We have also allocated funds to purchase six defibrillators to local schools. We have also given £2,000.00 to a school in Cheshire towards helping with their goal to raise money for children with sever autism.

The common goal was to improve the standard of scaffolding services provided across the North West of England. Now due to the Association's continual growth and recruitment of Members Nationwide the Association's commitment is now to improve the standard of scaffolding safety across the UK.

Since 2003 the Association is now the most respected Scaffold Trade Association in the UK that has constantly seen growth year on year of new members joining the Association.

The Association is also now recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and the CITB as a Scaffold Trade Association that is setting the highest standards within the Construction Industry.

All members are self-regulated and as a result of this self-regulation there has been a major improvement in scaffolding standards across the whole of the United Kingdom where Member companies operate.
